Layovers & a Flirt!

This morning went so fast! I decided on an hour kickboxing class instead of cycling, I am going to be sitting on a plane all day and I didn’t want to risk my bum being sore! When I got home I made my last bowl of cranberry oats for a while, sad day.

Breakfast Combo:

½ c oats
1 c of unsweetened almond milk
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
2 tablespoons of Hemp Seed
¼ c homemade cranberry sauce
Spoonful of apple butter
Drizzle of agave nectar
A little bit of blueberry granola plank

Before I headed to the gym I had a slice of whole wheat toast with Barneys butter and honey, it gave me the energy I needed to get through my class.

BOSCO SAYS GOODBYE FOR A WEEK

This was hard and even Bosco shed a tear.

It's ok Bosco Grandma and Grandpa will take good care of you!

CAMELBACK WATER BOTTLE

I have already put my new Camelback water bottle to the test, it works great! I love that it has a straw so clumsy me doesn’t spill all over misled. Look it fits perfect in my bag too!

POTM WINNERS you are going to love this!

HOMEALONE LIKE

When I got done with breakfast I was running around frantically trying to get everything together for my trip. I Miss my hubby, he so good at getting everything taken care for the house before we leave on trips. Don’t get me wrong I am fully capable of taking care of things; it’s just nice to have his support! After loading all the bags in the car, and getting Bosco stuff together to head to his grandparents house it was 11:40 and my plane was leaving at 12:55...needless to say I was stressing. I made it to the airport fine, thanks to my Step Dad Richard, thanks RICH! I thought I was going to have to chase after the plane like the movie HOMEALONE! Got on the plane, and even had a few minutes to spare, and this is where a funny little story comes in.

I GOT HIT ON

As I was going through the security gate this nice gentleman (so I thought at the time) decided to HIT on me. He first gave the line “I think I know you from somewhere” and as SWEET as I am I said “really where are you from” he said, “around”. Ok now I was catching on. He then proceeded to speak and said, “You’re a teacher aren’t you” WHAT man how did he know is he a profiler! Lol…being the nice person that I am I said yes and then hoped he would just go away oooo but no he continued to flirt with me. “ If you’re a teacher maybe you can teach me a thing or tow” DUDE do you not see the giant ROCK on my left finger…I laughed and quietly got the heck out of DODGE.

LAYOVER IN VEGAS

Now I am sitting in Las Vegas waiting to board my plane to Nashville and thought I would give you all my plan for working out this week(this is more for me because I need the accountability).

Sunday: REST
Monday: Run 5 miles easy, go to my old AKB class
Tuesday: Run 5 miles 2 miles at Tempo, yoga in the AM
Wednesday: Run 7 miles 3 miles at tempo, go to old AKB class
Thursday morning: I AM RUNNING 10 miles at least, I was going to do a 5k Turkey Trot but I need to run more then 3 miles.
Friday: headed back home, walk in the evening with Bosco and Hubby
Saturday: Spin Class and weights
Sunday: AKB at night

I know this seems like a lot but with more time and more food comes more working out!!! I ate the second half of my Apple Chicken Pumpadilla on the plane, mmmm…just as good as last night.

P.S it was 87 degrees today in So CAL I felt kinda funny wearing long sleeves and a scarf in the airport!

FRIDAY FUN post!

OOOOO I am so happy it’s FRIDAY!!!! I love being a teacher, because we have the whole week off for the Holiday!

TEMPO RUN

I woke up this morning bright and early and ran. It’s about time. I am exercising daily, but haven’t been home to run. I was short on time this morning so I made it a tempo run. TEMPO RUN Basic definition: sustained run at faster than usual training pace.

Love this quote: "If I had to pick one factor that separates good competitive runners from everyone else, it would be consistency in training."

How to do a good tempo run: Warm up by running easily for at least 10 minutes. Do the tempo part I try and run at my racing pace a little under 7 minute miles (if I was training for a marathon I would run a 7:40 tempo) and then run easily for at least another 5 minutes to warm down.

MY RUN: http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/us/ca/calimesa/104640882261

My Stats:

Distance 4.78 miles
Time: 37:44 minutes
Avg Speed: 7:51
Max Speed: 4:50
Calories Burned: 577

Bringing my total POTM total to 24.2!!

Once again I have a lot of hills were I live so today I used some major word inspiration. As I tackle a hill I say to myself “you own this hill, it’s not going to beat you, you can conquer it!” Once starting up the hill I try and stick to my pace or even better pick it up. Today on my last hill I looked down at the Garmin and it said 6:50 at the bottom of the hill when I got to the top I looked at it and it said 5:45!!! This friends is why I run, for the challenge!

I am planning on hitting the gym tomorrow morning for a spin class and do some weights, so that way I am not wasting away that gym membership.

FEW FLEXIBLE POUNDS

I am trying to lose about 3 pounds by Thursday, why you ask? Because I would like to have a few flexible pounds for the Thanksgiving, not that I plan on gaining ANY weight but just in case. So I figure if I skip the sweets, alcohol, and extra handful of snacks until Thursday I should lose it easily, would anyone else like a few flexible pounds?

BREAKFAST

This morning I made me a waffle sandwich. McDonald's has McGriddles and Burger King has their breakfast sandwiches, so I thought "Why shouldn't I have my own creation?", a lighter one that is. So here it is enjoy!

McCormick McGriddles

2 Whole wheat toaster waffles
1 egg
2 pieces of turkey bacon
Drizzle of light maple syrup on both sides
EAT AND ENJOY!

PROBAR #1 Maple Pecan

I tried my first PROBAR Yesterday courtesy of Kendell, it was super yummy. I had half for morning snack and half for afternoon snack; it has a total of 400caloires, and 22 grams of fat! It would be a great meal replacement if you’re in to that, I need real food. It was like a special treat to me, a little salty though (I am not a fan of salt). I don’t like all the fat, but some fat is much needed. Will be taking the to Nashville in my goodie bag for the week.

LIVESTRONG

Ok so my friend Sandy told me about this amazing website called LiveStrong.com. I can’t believe I have never heard of it! I checked it out last night, and am so excited about using it. I love how easy it is to track your food diary (not that I enjoy counting calories). It’s not only for losing weight, but it has everything from training for an Iron man to spending time with your family more! This is so cool and I am ready for the challenge! I love technology. Check it out and tell me what you think.

PILE ON THE MILES CHALLENGE!!

"November 8th 1864, Abraham Lincoln is re-elected President of the United States with Andrew Johnson his Vice-President."

What a fun eventful Friday night!!!
Because I got off early yesterday I was able to go to a hot yoga class at the Yoga Room. I was going to go for a run before, but I decided against it. I wish my running buddy's legs were feeling better, because I miss running with her. The yoga class rocked, I got into some really deep stretched that my body has been crying for! After the class I had to jet home because one of my best friends from High School called me and asked us to join some friends at our rival alumni football game. This is where our two home high schools play each other, we were routing for Redlands East Valley (I know the name sounds like a movie). As a passionate REV alumni I decide to go.

High School FOOTBALL
I got home and hubby had dinner ready which was awesome! I ate on the run seeing that by the time I got out of the shower the game had already started. It was a fun game, nice to be with old friends, and we WON!!!
BFF's sense we were 12!
Funny story behind "BRABIE" I ll give you all the short story. One day in cross-country I was running late, so I just through on some cloths, tennis shoes and went for a run. Well, while we were all running I got really hot so I decided to take my shirt off. Well little did I know that I wasn't wearing a sports bra, lets just say everyone got to see me in LACE!!! lol....so from then on they called me "Brabie"....
This is our we WON excited looking faces!

Hot Tubing Time

After the game, the Bowie's asked us over to do some hot tubing! We were so down with that, both the hubby and I have worked our bodies to death this week, we needed to sit in the spa. We had a very nice time, and on the drive home I conked out.

Saturday Morning Breakfast

Seeing that we went to bed at midnight I didn't think I would rise too early, but the eternal clock was ticking and I rose at 6am. I went straight to the coffee(which the hubby had made for me) and myself a comforting bowl of oats.

The Combo:

1/2 c oats
1/2 c hemp milk
1/2 c H2O
1/4 c pumpkin
1/2 Banana
handful of unsweetened coconut flakes
handful of flax seed
1/4 piece of granola plank
handful of Bare Naked Natural Trail Mix
pinch of Nutmeg
drizzle of Agave Nectar
spoonful of pumpkin butter

and on the side a piece of whole wheat banana bread with some Zap PB! Perfect Saturday morning TREAT!

Today is quite eventful as always. We have two softball games this morning and then were headed off with the Bowie's to LA, to see a UCLA football game. I have only been to one college football game in Memphis, I am excited to see another.

I have a 10k race in the morning, which I can't believe I am doing because I have only run ONCE this week. I need to get back on a running schedule, I don't want to run every morning but at least twice a week would be good. Where is the time?! I think I need a challenge.

PILE ON THE MILES CHALLENGE!!!!

Presenting the PILE ON THE MILES CHALLENGE. I was looking at the Nike website and came across this challenge they are having now until Thanksgiving. Here are the details:

"Soon enough, you’ll be chowing down on scrumptious pumpkin pie, stuffing and other yummy Thanksgiving Day eats. But those delicious goodies may come with some extra pounds. Want to keep away that unwelcome weight? Then join the Pile on the Miles challenge.

Whoever logs the most miles between now and the day after Thanksgiving will be crowned the winner and as a bonus—will most likely keep those unwanted pounds at bay. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and start piling on those miles!"

Ok I don't have a Nike tracker thingy so I can't necessarily do this challenge, but I thought it would be great for me to track my mileage starting today until the day after Thanksgiving, and I even thought it might be fun to throw the challenge out to you bloggers!!!

So here's the deal, start tracking all of your miles from now until the day after Thanksgiving, and then on the day after Thanksgiving, post your mileage on a comment and you will be crowned the winner and I will even send you a special treat for winning! Not sure what the prize will be yet, but it will be worth it:) I know this is based on honesty so you be the judge of that. I think this will be fun, I love challenging myself, that's what gets me out of bed at 4AM!!!! So who's in??? Have a great SATURDAY and good luck to all who are running races this weekend!

Monday mishaps, wait it's Tuesday!

Kickboxing was fun last night, I just need to get some new music! I am tired of the same CD playing over and over. Any suggestions? Before class I also got to see my friends precious new baby Emma Rose at the hospital she was so beautiful makes me want to have one,but I am still waiting were on the 5 year plan..lol...

When I got home I had my usual Monday night bowl of cereal, with a little Fiber One and some Kashi Flax & Almonds. I never know what's the best thing to eat at 9 o' clock at night. I don't want to have a heavy meal because I am about to go to bed, but I don't want to skip dinner either. I need to plan my Monday night dinners better.

This morning I woke up super early and went to a spin/weight training class with my running buddy. It was great! I loved the cycling, I felt strong and what a great workout for my legs. We did 30 minutes of spinning, and then 30 minutes of weights and abs. I love mixing it up like that, I am not sure I would want to do a full hour spin class. I am hoping that doing these spin classes will make me a better cyclist. I need to do a bit of research on spin class technique and how it can improve my cycling skills, well the future ones that is. My heart rate definitely got up there, but not as much as I would have liked, but I sure did sweat! I am looking forward to doing it again this week.
This morning I wanted to try to make some of Kath's home made pecan granola. Well I had two big mishaps:( As I was trying to maneuver around the kitchen, Bosco decided to trip me and I had I tripped and hit the open oats container and it flew all over the counter on to my laptop!!! I could have gotten very upset but I started laughing instead and took a picture to share with all of you...Ok so I thought that was all that could have gone wrong this morning, but that would have been too easy. So of course the cooking timer didn't go off, and my granola got a little burnt but I think it still might be edible, I hate waisting food!! I ll start over tomorrow....

I cooked up a McCormick Muffin this morning, there was no Turkey Bacon so I had to make due with a veggie style sandwich. Oroweat Double Fiber English Muffins, a slice of low fat Cheddar cheese, and one egg (which ended up being a twin!). I had half a banana and some Zap Pb on the side with a shot of Monavie, and some H2O. I had my coffee this morning before the gym.

I have a pretty easy day ahead of me, I need to make that hair appointment so I can CHOP my hair off, it's driving me CRAZY! O and I found hubby and me costumes yesterday or 40% off! We are going to be....I will have to take pics at the party this weekend, don't want to spoil the surprise:) Have a wonderful Tuesday hope your morning was better then mine!

Some R & R

Friday is here, and I am so excited because I need this weekend to recover from the madness of the week! Last night it was hard for me to go to sleep because I was a little overwhelmed by all the things I need to get done this weekend. Took a couple deep breaths, hubby comforted me and fell right to sleep.

Woke up to the grey skies, I asked for Fall and I think it's coming:) Normally would be running but I am still in my taper week. Last night I did my hour of aerobic kickboxing and felt good to be back in the gym. I missed boxing, when I was training for the marathon I didn't make it to boxing as much.

Took my break and went to the local health food store yesterday (is it sad that I enjoy grocery shopping on my break?). Look at all the yummy foods I found. I got some pumpkin finally so I am going to try some of Kath's Pumpkin Oats this morning:) Also a few new bars, to have in those emergency hunger moments.

I have a funny story to tell that I think you will all enjoy so much . Last night after OMTL study, Hubby and I had to stop by my Moms house to get her bike that I am going to barrow for the Tri. No one was home so I called my Mom and she said that I could just go through the back door. I asked her if it was open and she said no and that I would have to go through the DOGGY DOOR! She told me that she had done it before, and shes taller then me. I thought there is no way I am getting through that door, but if she did it I could do it. So we went to the back and there was this door, tiny as heck. I thought to myself there is no way my left butt cheek is going to make it. I got down on all four and started putting my head though (at this point I am laughing my tail off because I can't believe I am doing it). I then slide in sideways, bring my legs around and make it! WOW, I felt kinda like a burglar, all I needed was the black mask. Ok maybe this story is not as funny written, but it was a pretty funny site!

Back to other important information. I plan on catching up on some reviews this weekend about some great granola products and hempmilk I have tried this week so stay tuned. Today I have work, then a free dinner with our Sunday School team, yea for a free dinner.

This weekend I can not wait to catch up on some reading and cleaning. I miss sitting down and being still. I know that in a recent post, I spoke about it being very challenging for me to be still. It is a true art, and I am daily trying to master it. I would love it if through all the business of the weekend I could find just one hour to be still, and relax. How do you all relax? When and where do you relax the best? I hope to one day get this down (dreaming big:)).
