I am Breaking Up With Boboli

Tonight I made my first homemade whole wheat honey pizza crust. It’s about time!! Hubby and I are always looking for the perfect pizza crust to eat on our Friday Pizza Night. We have tried a lot too, TJ’s, Costco’s, and even Boboli’s.

I saw this recipe on Angela’s blogs, and I just knew I had to try it. A pizza crust that took only 20 minutes to make!!! She has never let me down before, so I took her advice and made it.

Whole Wheat and Honey Pizza Dough
(adapted from allrecipes.com)

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey ( I used Agave Nectar)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl combine flour, wheat germ and salt. Make a well in the middle and add honey and yeast mixture. Stir well to combine. Cover and set in a warm place to rise for a few minutes.
  4. Roll dough on a floured pizza pan and poke a few holes in it with a fork.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 5 to 10 minutes, or until desired crispiness is achieved.

Well it looks like pizza crust, so I was hopeful!!

While it baked I prepped the toppings

  • sliced bell pepper
  • sliced tomato
  • leftover asparagus from last night
  • mushrooms
  • goat cheese
  • baby spinach
  • roasted red peppers

So glad I put the asparagus on their it was a nice crunch, and I think this is the “Greenest” my pizza has ever been. WE LOVED the crust too, we usually have thin crust and this was much thicker, but not bad. I loved the texture and taste much better then all the others we have ever tried. I think that next time I will roll out the dough a little thinner to see if I can make a thin crust pizza with it. Overall, it was cheap and will have to break up with all the others, sorry Boboli.

I made a HUGE salad to enjoy on the side.

I Don’t Want to Leave Boston!

I love Boston, what a charming and delightful city to visit! We have had such an amazing time here and I am sad we have to leave tomorrow. Today we had a full day of sight seeing and our share of great eats. I first started the day off with a wonderful one hour massage at Bella Sante on Newberry street, it was so needed and well worth it.

1615

After my wonderful massage I headed over to Sonsie, after I saw Tina’s review I knew I had to check this place out! I had planned to have a blogger meet-up there, but everyone had to work except for Shannon for Tri to Cook!!! I was so glad she joined Hubby and I, it was such a pleasure meeting her, she is such a doll, and I am so glad we got to meet up! Sad we forgot to take a picture, we just were too busy chatting away!

I ordered the Goat Cheese Pizza, and ate the whole thing! Yes it was that amazing. I loved the yummy baked crust. While I loved the pizza toppings, the crust was the best part of the pizza for me!

13

She was kind enough to walk us over to Lulemon, they had one right down town and I just had to stop in. I love this saying!

12

She also walked us down to Fenway Park where we had a nice tour of the stadium, I loved all the history and facts about the Red Sox. There is so many things I didn’t know about them, like did you know that they have the two shortest homerun foul poles in baseball, all because of how they had to build the stadium?! Sorry that’s the baseball nerd fanatic in me coming out.

I was trying to get us to bat like the ball players, Hubby was confused?

boston09 115

I loved the public transportation system here, I wish we could have one of these at home!!! We became pros by the end of the day:)

1919

After our baseball adventure we headed out over to the Science Center for a Boston Duck Tour around the city. It was so neat, the two drivers were hilarious they were fully of neat little facts and stories to tell us all about the city, like did you know that Paul Revere didn't really finished the midnight ride?? Hubby even got to drive the tour too!!!

After the tour we took the T, to Harvard Square and had a superb dinner at Grafton Street Pub & Grill. The atmosphere was so classy yet casual. I started off dinner with a glass of Honey Wheat Ale, and some bread:)

2021

For the main course Hubby and I decided to split one of their Angus burgers, and firestone Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza’s( I had 1/2 the burger and two slices of pizza minus the ham).I loved the burger, and the pineapple on the pizza was huge and super sweet.

22

I also had this salad on the side as well. I love the way the pizza was on this long pita like crust, I feel like I have had my pizza fix for the next month!! This was my 4th time having pizza in 5 days!

23

We couldn’t finish the night without some Froyo from J.P. Licks of course, I don't’ think I could truly be on vacation without dessert:) I went with a small Cookies and Cream frozen yogurt which tasted like a Frosty from Wendy’s!

24

I wanted to say THANKYOU for all the wonderful and kind comments about my Boston Marathon Experience, you all encourage me and inspire me to work hard and NEVER give-up!

We are leaving early in the morning to head out to Philly for the rest of the week, I will be catching up on what's been going on in the blog world on our five hour trip down there!

Night Peeps!

P.S. Don’t forget about my Birthday Give-Away keep those challenge ideas coming!!!!

Inaugural McCormick Super Bowl Party

Hello friends, I am sorry for the lack of posting and commenting this weekend let me fill you in just a bit, and you should see why!

Saturday:

AM A&P Lab
: took skull quiz only missed one!!!! YEAH for studying!
Afternoon: Cleaned ad prepared for Suber bowl party (seriously we worked from sun up till sun down.
PM: Ordered Pizza Hut’s All Natural Pizza

"The Natural" pizza at Pizza Hut consists of the following: a multi-grain crust, a flavorful pizza sauce made from organic tomatoes and then they top the whole thing off with handfuls of all natural mozzarella cheese. You can choose to top the pizza off with other natural ingredients such as natural chicken sausage, natural marinated sliced tomatoes or natural fire-roasted peppers. And a 1-topping "Natural" pizza will only set you back $10.99. We were so pooped from cleaning that this was the easiest thing next to fast food. The pizza was ok, I definitely prefer our homemade pizzas better. The crust was good not too bready, and I really like the sauce on it too.

I added mushrooms to it, with no cheese(lactose-intolerant) and of course made a little side salad. I also went back for seconds, one more slice.

MCCORMICK SUPERBOWL PARTY

Now on to the festivities of Sunday. Before the party I ran 13.2 miles at an 8:30 average for my Boston training all by myself, I called it my “Yes I can EAT” Half marathon, because I knew what the day had in store!

I am not a huge fan of football(love Kurt Warren though;)) , but I think that the Super Bowl is another wonderful way to gather friends together for food and entertainment. I love HOSTING parties, sometimes I wish I could do it for a living!

The Spread: AKA Grazing ZONE!

food 017 food 021

I made a huge veggie platter, because I knew that everything else would be so tempting, along with some home made hummus with the Vita-Mix!

THE AFTERPARTY: Bro and I cleaning up!!! Friends were so great though, they stayed back and helped too!!!

superbowl2009 035

I sent as much food home with others as possible, we don’t need all of the goodies at our house!

superbowl2009 001The party was so fun, and I can’t wait to do it again next year. As you can see I didn’t take too many pics of what I ate because it was a constant grazing fest, I didn’t go over board though. I did have two of these, I know I am giving up alcohol for the marathon training but I made an acceptation just this once.

I am now on DETOX mode!!! Today I plan on eating nothing, but fruits and veggies I was curious this morning how much damage I did last night and STEPPED on the scale, what was I thinking YOU SHOULD NEVER do that! Let’s just say I was depressed for a bit but know that’s mostly water weight (and all that salt I ate last night).

I am doing Detox Yoga this morning and then eating a nice healthy bowl of oats!!! Back to the grind! Hope everyone had a safe and fun SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!!!!

P.S. CONTEST REMINDER!!! If you haven’t already make sure to visit this post and leave a comment , to win a free Camelbak water bottle. Contest ends on Wednesday February 5th!!!!
