Last Long Run..It’s Taper Time

1

Woke up 3:30am and quickly ate my piece of toast with pb and 1/2 banana. I also had about a half of cup of coffee. I then ran out of the door at 4:15 to meet up with the Renagades to run my last 20 mile run for my Boston training.

The run was ok, I wasn’t feeling my best, but I finished!!! I ran at a 8:47 average pace, and with the AMOUNT of HILLS we ran, this was an AWESOME time!!! My running group LOVES hills, well not really but we can’t avoid them where we live. I am a little worried about my left IT band it was a little tight and worked up to my left hip. I am going to buy a foam roller today and make sure to really stretch it!

When I got home I made a PROTEIN packed breakfast.

2

A GREEN MONSTER

  • 1 c almond milk
  • 1/8 c blueberries
  • 1/4 c cherries
  • 2 Kale Leaves
  • handful of baby spinach
  • 1 scoop whey protein
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp of Fage
  • 1 tbsp of PB
  • 1 tbsp of Flax Seed

PROTEIN WAFFLES, FRENCH TOAST STYLE

4

  • 2 WW Nature’s Path Frozen Waffles
  • 4 tbsp of egg whites mixed with 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp of 0% Fage
  • 1 tbsp TJ’s Cranberry Apple Butter
  • Sliced Pecans
  • handful of flax granola

I dipped the waffles in the egg whites and the cooked over the stove in a griddle for about 1 minute on each side. Then topped off the waffles with Fage and Cranberry Apple Butter. Then sprinkled the pecans and granola on top for the added crunchiness.

I am off to get my long list of chores done today!

Great job on your run! Tapering was always my favorite part of big swim meets when I was a competitive swimmer! Makes you feel wonderful and amazing for that big race!

I totally want a vegetable garden (with lots of herbs too!) When I have the space for it, it's going to be wonderful :)

How come you guys are up so early for the run? Will it be uncomfortably warm if you run later during the day?
I am glad to hear it went well! I am crossing my fingers and keeping you in my prayers and thoughts - your marathon will be amazing!

3:30 am, wow. I thought I was a little nuts waking up at 4:30 to go swimming! I am not just impressed with you waking up that early, but also being able to eat that early.

Boston is almost here!! You must be getting excited. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Definitely get the foam roller. If you catch it in time, you'll be ok. The roller fixed my IT right up and now I use it every day. I waited a while to get one, though and it got really bad.
