Fasting From Myself

If you think you are too small to make a difference, try spending the night in a closed room with a mosquito. –African saying

Have you ever looked at your life and felt powerless to make significant changes in the world because you’re “only one person?” What if, instead of being paralyzed by our own inabilities or overwhelmed by the world’s great needs, we lived as though our little acts of kindness really mattered … because they do matter to someone. Mother Teresa was known for saying, “We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”

My challenge today is to NOT think of myself but think of others. So today and tomorrow I shall fast from myself.

This morning I woke up early to get to work by 7am and it wasn’t that bad. It’s actually really nice being the first one in the office. I made my breakfast here at work, thank goodness we have a toaster.

I had some Kashi Honey Oat Waffles with Pb and a half of a Nanner.

I am thinking of small things I can do for others today, I did go buy a pumpkin candle for our office here at work I knew the girls would love this!

The gift of scent is wonderful! I am about to make a fresh pot of coffee for the girls before they get in, and then who knows what I will do.

Question: What small act of kindness have you done lately, or have been done to you?

i love these fasting ideas :)

I'm going to make some cookies today for us and to share with my in-laws who are stopping by to pick up their dog since we've been puppy sitting this weekend.

Somehow, by not thinking about yourself today and focusing on those around you, you WILL be the winner in all of this. Isn't that amazing?! Great job, Bobbi!
BTW, just got caught up on last night's post, yay for your marathon! You better get on the training girly! :)

I really enjoy reading about your fasting experience! They are all great ideas! I really love bringing in the pumpkin spice candle, the perfect fall act of kindness :) Before we get busy each quarter at work I like to restock my candy supply. Little things like sweet tarts, spree, or Kisses seem to brighten everyone's day - I get such a great feeling of seeing someone crack a smile when they're having a rough day and they see an old favorite in my bowl :)

I got a free coffee refill today at Starbucks. The barista was nice and didn't charge me for it!

My fiance has been working much long hours to get extra money for our honeymoon. Last night, I packed all three meals and snacks for him for today to make sure he had healthy filling meals to get him through his long day.

I went to bed with a smile on my face and he has called me twice to thank me today :)

I did my roommates' dishes when I got back from a weekend at my boyfriend's house. I thought it would be a nice surprise for them to come home to a clean kitchen :)

My wonderful husband had folded up the blankets I didn't have time to fold this morning. Sure, it wasn't a huge gesture. But it was a nice thought because he knew if he didn't I would have to later. :)
