Marathon Video+Recovery

Morning friends! I am in full recovery mode, recovery from the race and the busy weekend. Last night Hubby and I realized we had no food in the house so we went and got some yummy Thai food for dinner and then hit the grocery store after. I am glad this is a pretty laid back week, no big plans so I can catch up house cleaning, blogging stuff, bootcamp prep, and rest!

This week I am going with a a RAW fruit smoothie every morning to kick of June and the summer! Starting with a GREEN monster!

green 001

  • 3 cups of baby spinach
  • 1 cup Almond Breeze
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/4 cup  frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup of pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup of ice
  •

I am going to check out Angela’s green monster movement for more ideas for this week!

I have the TSL Challenge Winner and Recap all ready and can’t wait to share it with you all. I will be posting it around noon my time!

If you haven’t see it already check out Meghann’s marathon video below, she truly captured our whole marathon experience!!! I so want one of these video cameras!

Now time to get some cleaning done before I head to work!

Question: How many days do you usually rest and recover after a big race??

I am actually only planning on running twice this week and getting ready for Bobbi’s Bootcamp that starts this Friday morning.

I LOVE that video - so cute :)

I'm trying to drink one green smoothie a day, as many days as I can in June, at least! I just feel so good when I do.

    Loved this video!

I rested for one day after the half marathon and then did lighter exercise throughout the week.

That's so awesome Bobbi! What a great video!!

I have never run a full marathon but each time I run a half I usually take the next day off. I ran a half on Sunday and I plan to run today. I am still tight but I find that running helps. I may sit in the hot tub too.

Love the wine glass the green monster is in! I really have to make one this weekend!! :-)

I like to take a day to do nothing after a race and then try to get in a walk and some yoga the next day. Depending on how I feel after that, I will probably hit up the elliptical the next day and ease back into running!

Loving the Green Monsters - I really like adding flax and I want to try adding oats to it!

I did a marathon on May 24th and ran 3 days last week, all recovery runs and will continue to do 4 recovery runs this week. I am doing another marathon in about 18 weeks, so I am hoping to get back on track next week with my higher mileage and speed work. My knees are still a little sore from last week.

Hi! I "lurk" and read blogs, have been reading yours for a bit. I wanted to know about "Bobbis bootcamp" maybe i missed that post, is it a challenge? I need something to keep me accountable, i've kinda fallen off the wagon and am trying to get myself back on. :) Thanks!

It depends on the race. I've never run a marathon, but I usually run the day after a race. I feel it helps me recover and not tighten up. I always do easy runs for at least a week after a race.

    Fun Video!

Yum - Thai Food - need I say more!

I LOVE the almond breeze plus banana in my green monsters - it really does make them taste just like milk shakes.

The potatssium in the banana is great for any soreness and getting the lactic acid out of your muscles - a fun fact in case you didn't know :) LOL
