Let’s Revisit Those NY Resolutions!

I ate so much fruit today and not enough veggies, good thing I had my Green Monster this morning! For my midmorning snack I had some yogurt and strawberries, a wonderful combination!

1

For lunch I brought to school the last of my Turkey Chili. I ate with some wonderful ww pita bread for dipping!

2

With more FRUIT, apple slices, cantaloupe and a little fruit dip.

4

Then for my mid afternoon snack instead of having an ice-cream sundae(it was our childcare party), I made another bowl of fruit with PB! MMMM…

8

Some how I did manage to have a Non-Fat Misto somewhere in there!

5

Well I guess that means a GIANT SALAD will be calling my name for dinner!

It was great to hear how all of you did on your initial tests of the pushup, situp, and squat challenges! Hubby is going to do it with me, this should be fun:)

Tonight I wanted to reflect just a little on my New Years resolutions seeing as we are half way through the year and I only have one more week of school!!!

  • Hire at least 5 more sitters for Need-A-Sitter

Man I need to really work on the Spiritual and Mental goals! With this Bootcamp that I am doing, there is a devotional that comes with it, so i hope that it will help me to be in the Word daily, journal and memorize more scripture. I need to start reading more books as well, do you guys have any suggestions??

At the beginning of the year I was planning on going to get my Master’s Degree to become and R.D., but I decided to get my personal training and nutrition license instead, which I plan on doing over the summer! I am still working on saving up for a road bike, and would love to have a “true savings account”.

I do plan on running a couple 5k’s and 10k’s this summer, so hopefully I can break my PR’s! If I don’t it’s no big deal but I like having a goal in mind to push me through.

Have you reviewed your New Year Resolutions? How are doing?!

You seem to actually be doing pretty well with your goals. I can't believe it's already half way through the year! Hey, if you do plan on running a 5k, I would love to run my first one with you. Let me know if you put that on your schedule. :-)

You are doing awesome with your goals! I didn't set specific ones this year. What do you use for your fruit dip? It looks good!

I can understand your uncertainty about the RD/MS. I returned to school to do the RD/MS (at CSULB). I was surprised to find the entire process required four years of full-time classes/internship (even though I had a biology degree).
Overall, it was worth it, though more than I bargained for.
The RD definitely gives you more options, though, than a nutrition certificate. For example, you could do nutrition counseling for people with medical conditions. Non-RDs by law should not be doing that type of work.
Also, a survery just listed the RD job as one of the least stressful jobs. It's really fun to be able to study nutrition as part of my daily job.
I'm not sure if you speak Spanish, but Spanish-speaking RDs are in HIGH demand, especially in CA.
Good luck!

Ok, I am just way impressed yet again by you. Your list of resolutions just wowed me. I think you are doing a fantastic job so far, and you've really inspired me to take a look at some of my own "to dos" and "goals" for the year and work on them!

Great job so far! I didn't really make any set resolutions but I'm wishing I had!

It's great to see that you have a balance btwn physical/mental/spiritual goals. It shows that you are a very balanced person!! Good luck with the rest of your unfinished goals :)

Wow way to go not just putting them to the way side.

As far as books, anything by Jodi Piccoulet (not sure on spelling) is good. Really liked "My Sisters Keeper" it is about to come out in a movie - read before you see

Good job on your goals!!! This was a great reminder for me to go back and revisit some of the things I want to accomplish this year!

Hey gorgeous! I was just curious as to what made you pursue a personal trainer license and nutrition certificate over your masters/ R.D.??

Those are some great goals to already have achieved. Congrats on that! I'm not huge on making 'resolutions' or keeping a list about my thoughts for the new year, but this year I did really push myself to lose weight and get toned up and the results are pretty staggering. Almost 18 pounds down since December (winter XC-skiing really kicked that into gear) and the accompanying drop of two pants sizes makes me smile like crazy. Not to mention the sleeker arms and shoulders I see now that sleeveless weather is here. Reading your blog keeps me motivated (and sometimes exhausted! you are a craaa-zeee go getter!) and always reminds me to pay attention to what goes into my meals. Keep at it girl!!

i love michael crichton books (they're more science / medical fiction type books)

you're doing great - you've gotten so many goals done already!

books:
The Shack (amazing)
anything by Francine Rivers
The O'Malley series by Dee Henderson - addicting, seriously

I tend to make ongoing goals rather than new years resolutions. I don't know why but they seem ripe for failure...oh based on past experience?

my major goals though are really to feel good and enjoy life...I'm doing pretty well on that...oh the six pack abs goal...I'd really like that maybe I should pay you to be my trainer!

Looking at your goals and what you have already achieved makes me feel like an underachiever!! I should reassess mine today!

This is a very helpful and inspiring post half-way through the year!

I actually have very similar NY resolutions, and in some cases, have changed routes.

One thing that struck me---we both want to save for a road bike!!! So funny for myself, since I've been into spinning for 9 years and outdoor mountain biking for about 8years! I've been "ready" for the road bike for some time!

I did my initial test for the challenge yesterday:
Situps–47
Pushups-26
Squats-112

I only had 3 resolutions this year:
Defend my Master's thesis/Finish Graduate school. This was something that in January was a bit foggy and unclear if it would happen. Thankful it did and I am completely done.

Finish 2009 with less debt than I started. As of September, I will have 0 credit card debit! :)

Do not have a baby. So far, so good!

Maybe I should add some more in there.

Happiness Awaits

Bobby,
Congrats on your completing your goals so far! Great job. I have a question for you that was triggered by your comment about eating fruit instead of ice cream triggered. How do you respond to people who make comments about not eating what everyone else is eating in social situations? I sometimes feel that I am offending people for not eating what they are eating at work or socially, kinda like I'm being snobish almost. Coworkers brough ice cream and popsicles to work recently and I politely passed but felt like I was being rude. I know I just need to get over it but was wondering how you've dealt with it.

Bobbi, your 5 and 10K goals are what I'm always shooting for, too! I always aim to get under 20 in a 5K, but cannot get under 42 min. in the 10K! I know it's because I don't work on my speed enough. Do you have some workouts that you do to prepare for the 10K speed?

Bobbi,

It is so great to read a food/fitness blog written from a Christian perspective! Your faith is an encouragement to me.
