Banana Pumpkin Smoothie

I have found a new breakfast love!! I have been missing my morning bowl of oats, but with the warmer weather I haven’t really been in the mood for something hot in the morning. So today I tried a new smoothie creation. It’s basically my pumpkin oats all thrown in a blender!!

BANANA PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE

The Mix

  • 1 cup Almond Milk
  • 3/4  cup canned pumpkin, chilled
  • 1/2  cup  ice cubes
  • 1 fresh squeezed orange
  • 1  tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin spice
  • 1/2 scoop of vanilla whey protein
  • 1/4 c oats
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 1  ripe banana, sliced and frozen

The frozen fruit helped give this smoothie a thick texture!! The combo of banana, pumpkin, and orange juice gives this breakfast beverage a ton of Vitamin C and Potassium!!! I must remember to always freeze my bananas!

So last night after AKB I had a quickie dinner. I steamed some Green Giant garden vegetable medley, and threw it in the last of m veggie chili. I am not so sure if this fits' in to Heather’s  Cleaner Life Month challenge?

I was just happy to have some veggies and not make a huge mess in the kitchen. I fell asleep around 10:30pm but then woke up at 2am and couldn’t go back to bed for the life of me!! I ended up getting up and working on a couple things that where on my mind, like a savings goal sheet, and WWRT stuff. I tried going back to bed at 4am, but no luck until 5am and then I ended up getting out of bed at 7:30am. I KNOW IT WAS THE MISTO I HAD AT 5PM!!!!

Needless to say it’s going to be a rough day!!! Let’s hope this smoothie will power me through!! I see a power nap in my near future.

I have some fun things planned for this evening:

  • Kickboxing
  • Pilates Class
  • Walk with Skinny Bride!!!

Happy Tuesday Friends!

I am not a huge pumpkin fan, but I used some leftover this fall in smoothies and it wasn't too shabby. I wasn't sure about the orange in a smoothie, I have a couple that I've been just eating but now...well it's smoothie time

I have plenty of book selections for you Bobbi! I'm an avid reader... but of course my recommendations will depend on what genre you typically like to read.

Wowsers, the pumpkin smoothie looks amazing. I will have to try that for sure. Also, Kristin (ChasRunner) has been talking to me about the opening you have for the Wild West Relay, and I hope things work out for me to fill the spot, because it looks like a blast. Tough, but a blast!

Hey Bobbi, you should DEFINITELY coach cross country! It is a big time commitment, and not a big paycheck, but it is SO WORTH IT. I absolutely love it, and no matter what kind of mood I'm in before practice, I'm in a better one once I leave. It's amazing. Just from lurking on your blog, I can tell you would be an inspiration and could bring a lot of knowledge to coaching! :) Let me know if you do decide to go for it :)

great smoothie idea!

I can't have caffeine in the afternoon, either. it makes too jittery and then I can't sleep.

Pumpkin smoothies are my absolute FAVE! I usually make it without the banana, but I'm sure it's even more creamy/delish with it!

For an extra special treat, try it topped with whipped cream. Best. Combo. Ever.

Good looking smoothie! I have been enjoying them lately after my runs as a recovery drink. It's nice to down something cold!

Have you ever tried muesli? I have a recipe for an overnight version that you mix up and keep cold in the fridge. It sounds, I know....odd, but it's not, it's amazing and delicious and when its hot, you get an awesome breakfast without a hot bowl of oats.

Here's the link to my post on it.

Best part about it is that you can make it any way you like.

Hi Bobbi!
I've been reading (lurking on) your blog for quite some time. I wanted to let you know how much your story has inspired me. I have a similar story to yours, and I know have the confidence to create my own blog. I love love love reading about your races and workouts. So inspirational. I put a link to your blog under My Inspiration on my own blog, I hope you don't mind! :)
