“Skinny Bride” Update and More

Last night I had fun teaching AKB(kickboxing) class. We did some awesome burpees with a pushup in between, and walking pushups! I think I heard the class cursing at me under their breaths:)

Before class I had a tall Sbux decaf coffee and ate a Super Protein Odwalla Bar while reading my new book, I can’t put this book down!!!

I ended up meeting my good friend T for coffee( I had a cup of perfect oats and a protein platter) after class and stayed up way late. But chatting with a girlfriend was so worth it! I didn’t get in bed until after 11pm, and had to wake up this morning at 5am! I was surprised how great I felt this morning waking up, I am sure it will catch up to me later. I got a nice 3.5 mile run in this morning and came home and did some weight training; biceps, overhead extensions, and more…

I am so glad that I made a breakfast cookie last night, I was not up for cooking breakfast this morning. I think this, by far is one of the best breakfast cookies I have ever made!

3

  • 1/2 c oats
  • 3 tbsp of almond milk
  • 1 tbsp of Naturally More PB
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein
  • handful of pecans
  • 1/2 banana

I nuked it for 30 seconds, which made it nice and gooey:) All it was missing was some carob chips!!! (5 more days)

UPDATES

I was one busy lady last month, with all the challenges, and training! I thought I would catch all of you up on how everything went and is still going.

Carrot’s N Cake 31 Days of Yoga: I wasn’t able to do all 31 days but I did at least 20+ days. This was an amazing experience, it taught me a lot about my body and soul. I am so glad I participated and thank you to everyone who voted on my essay for the contest, I was one of the lucky winners picked!!!

The MBBC: My total for the month 286.7!!! I learned that I eat a lot more veggies and fruit then I thought, and that 18,19,20, and 20 miler run sure did help! I do need to be drinking a lot more water though, I should be drinking 10+glasses, that’s my new challenge! I also was picked randomly as another lucky winner!!

Personal Challenge: My personal challenge started off good, but I quickly became a slacker, I am going to try it one more time this month before I reveal what it is:)

LENT: No sweets was HARD, had a lot of temptations!  I didn’t realize how much I loved chocolate, and frozen yogurt. I still have 5 more days until I can have sweets again. I am realizing the sacrifice, and it has been a humbling experience.

SKINNY BRIDE UPDATE!!!!

Just in case you missed it, I have been helping a dear friend get in shape for her big day in October. Instead of putting her on a strict diet, we are focusing on CLEAN EATING, making it a life change. Here is a message from Skinny Bride herself.

Hi to all of Bobbi's readers! Just a little update to let you know how things are going with operation "Skinny Bride."
I have been eating healthier than I ever have in my entire life (even healthier than when I was trying for the LA Marathon-but then again, I was running 40 miles/week so I guess I didn't have to worry TOO much about what I ate). I am really seeking out the foods that are high in protein, low in sugar and un-natural ingredients, and trying to incorporate as many fruits/vegetables as possible. I have been eating a lot of soups-they fill me up and are generally healthy but I could probably do without so much sodium.

Anyhow, last week I really turned up the intensity, like coach Bobbi insisted. I did 6 days of workouts (2 days AKB, 3 days running, 1 day soccer, plus 2 Jillian workouts on my running days). I am FEELING good. I have a lot of energy and can feel myself getting stronger and more flexible. The frustrating thing for me is that I am back to -0 lbs on the scale (meaning the 5 lbs I had lost over the month have now somehow crept back on). My brother and Bobbi tell me to keep doing what I'm doing and NOT get discouraged, but it's really hard. Nevertheless, I will persevere because I not only want to be a *skinny* bride- I want to be a HEALTHY bride and prepare my body for birthing some children (as soon as we're married) lol. Bobbi is recommending my focus this week be on eating less carbs for dinner so I could REALLLLY use some yummy low-carb dinner suggestions. I am a pretty simple eater, NOT  a vegetarian, but just can't get used to fish, no matter how many times I try to eat it.

Despite my lack-of weight loss, there is a silver lining in the clouds. Today during one of my classes, a classmate hands me a little note on a torn piece of paper that says "You're starting to look really good. Skinny Bride is working!" I kept the note because it couldn't have come at a better time for me. Just when I am lamenting my lack of weight loss, I get a pick-me-up. I went to kickboxing after that and had an EXCELLENT workout with our beloved Bobbi. Thanks for everybody's support! More updates to follow.

Skinny Bride is doing AMAZING, and she is glowing more then ever!! I am so proud of her for staying motivated and working hard. Just to let you all know, Skinny Bride loved how great I looked in her bridesmaids dresses, that she asked me to be a bridesmaid, not really she always wanted me to be one:)

well golly who got your powerbars??? hehe.

Let's see low carb ideas... what about centering the meal around a sweet potato? Or doing a 1/2 cup brown rice with stir fry veggies. I say don't cut out all the carbs, just focus on really high quality.

I love the letter from skinny bride!!! she is such an inspiration. very lucky to have you :) well dinner suggestions-- elliot and i LOVE the "stirfry" route. TONS of veggies and evoo and we are lately using "Soyaki" sauce from trader joe's. you can add in whatever you like (we scramble eggs to add to the veggies, sometimes add tuna or salmon-- sounds like you would like adding in chicken or turkey or lean beef).

I loved the skinny bride update. I think concentrating on clean eating and exercising brings better results than obsessing over the scale. Every time I do that, I seem to do better. Does the skinny bride taking her measurements? I bet even if the scale shows a 0, she's looking better!

Congrats on all the contests wins! That's awesome for skinny bride too...for motivation, she could join an online wedding forum, I know on the Canadian one I am on there are tons of women doing weekly challenges, having accountability partners, sharing recipes, etc. to keep them on track for their big day.

Major support to the skinny bride!! If you are doing what you are doing, it will all pay off!! For a low carb dinner idea, I would suggest a taco salad with lots of veggies, black beans, some chicken, salsa, greek yogurt, etc. If you feel the need to add a little lowfat cheese or brown rice, it's still super healthy!!!

I just finished an artificial sweetene challenge and am going to start either a clean eating or vegan challenge!

Good luck on your secret challenge Bobbi!! I love that even though you let it go a bit, instead of giving up you're doing it for a second month! Way to go!

Love the breakfast cookie. I've seen so many of them on the blogs. I need to figure out how to make them.

Tell the skinny bride to keep it up! If she's eating when she's hungry, stopping when she's full, and eating mostly healthy, "clean" food, and exercising, the weight will come off eventually! The most important thing is that she's making this commitment to herself to be healthy, go her!
