Thursday is just around the corner, which means staycation is almost here. I have been a bit overwhelmed this week. have a fabulous Rainy Valentines day planned out, can’t wait to get some R&R. What are your plans for Saturday, anything different then the normal dinner and a movie?

I have to take my quiz tonight instead of on Saturday, because school is closed, makes life a little hectic. For the past 24 hours I have been working, sleeping(little),eating, and STUDYING. This Anatomy class is a killer, but I can do it! Tonight we have a quiz on the upper extremities of the body, which is helping to appreciate what I am made up of more and more. I do love my classmates, I have already made some great new friends.

I have a lot of studying to do so I must make this post short and sweet. First let me show you a few treats I had yesterday.

TACO TUESDAY

1 Soft Bean and Cheese Burrito+ 1 Bean and Cheese Tostado= Taco Tuesday! I found some fun stuff in the pantry to make this meal super healthful. Some low carb tortillas, low fat organic refried beans, light cheddar cheese, Fage, fresh salsa, and one whole wheat tortilla.

These Tortillas are the best, their not as healthy as the WW tortillas so I just had one. I baked the WW tortilla in the oven at 400 for about 4 minutes, turning it into a Tostada!

After dinner we took a study break and went and got some soft serve yogurt at our favorite yogurt place, I needed some brain fuel!

My Choice Non-fat Banana Yogurt + Low fat PB Yogurt. Topped with Heaven! Peanutbutter and Carob chips,a little reices pb cubs, toasted almonds, and graham crackers. mmmm…I was ready to get back to studying!!!!

Needless to say I didn't’ get my run in yesterday, but I did do my Jillian DVD! Ok folks I know I have said this time and time before, but if you are looking to push your self this DVD is for you!!!! I will be making up my run today after lab tonight, which means I will be hitting the treadmill. I just need to get through today and then it will be smooth sailing until the weekend.

WEDNESDAY WORK OUT TIP

Pain is temporary! Ok so my tip for you all this week is mind over body. As a runner, I know that the mind is a powerful thing and when I am running over 7 miles my mind starts to play tricks on me, it says things like, “What the heck(the G rated version), why would you put your body through this, are you crazy!” I just yell back at it,” Yes I am crazy, crazy in love with running and fitness! I can do it, I can’t give up”.I know I am not the only one who has thoughts like this on runs, or am I?

Ok so here is my tip. When your mind tries to tell you you can’t do it, say positive things over and over again in your mind. Like PAIN IS TEMPORARY, and PRIDE IS FOREVER! Or is there something you say already, please leave a comment, I would love to hear it:) The mind is a powerful tool, it can be used for good or BAD!

Second tip. If your trying to lose weight, you have to get that heart rate up and back down quickly, just walking will not help you lose all the weight. So let’s get that heart rate up, if you like walking walk for 3 minutes and then run quickly for 2 minutes, and repeat 3-4 times. This way you are able to rest and then take off getting that heart rate up!!!! I know this might be tough at first but heck let’s not lie to ourselves, losing weight is now easy!!!!

WRAP UP

Alright folks I am out of here, I can’t wait to catch up on all of your blogs this weekend. I will have the winner of the Naturally Nutty Give-Away! tonight, after all the craziness is over!

P.S. Check out Meghan's blog to win a Gracie Gear Sports BRA!!!! I have one and LOVE IT!!!!!

Can we switch backyards? That's just beautiful.

If I don't win the sports bra in Meghann's contest - I am definitely going to buy one. Are they pretty supportive?

saturday: i'm between boyfriends, and my mom is single, too, so i think we're going to go hiking and go hear live music or something lovely.

mantra: it's not a conscious thing, but my self-talk usually goes something like this: "oh, please. you can do this. quit griping. just keep running. just keep running."

:)

Oooh, that's a great way to think about pushing through the pain of running.

I try to remind myself that "discomfort" is something I can conquer and defeat, but "pain" (like, stride-altering pain) is something that I should probably notice and deal with to prevent injury later.

Great view from the backyard. I try to tell myself, if it was easy, everyone would be doing this!

i don't have a mantra yet, I've only just begun running back in January, I definitely have a hard time with running though so maybe I'l have to come up with one. Thanks for the tips on running though.
And I agree with Rose your backyard is absolutely gorgeous. I would totally switch with your for a few weeks, but I think i'd miss my view of the ocean after a little while.

Your eats look amazing...mexican and froyo. yum!

Thanks for the tips on walking/running. I am a runner and am trying to lose weight. Any suggestions other than to switch it up? I am getting into speedwork, which helps change up my HR. I always think about your "before" picture at your first marathon. I was the same way the first time I ran a 1/2...now I'm about to do my 2nd and still need to shed some pounds. Any nutrition tips?

Thanks so much! don't let anatomy get you down! You can do this!

wow - that view is AMAZING!

i don't have a mantra - i just think to myself: "you could stop, or you could push yourself - you decide" - and that always works :)

taco tuesday + froyo ... mmmmmmmmarvelous.

on sat, one of my married friends is having a couple of us single girls over for a run and a waffle and ice cream brunch. i can't wait!

my running mantra is "breakfast is just around the corner!" but i think yours is more self-affirming :-)

Mmm... Tacos! I made a shrimp quesadilla the other night and it really hit the spot! I'm craving some fajitas actually!

Your backyard is beautiful! I know you appreciate it too!

I liked hearing you say that your mind plays tricks on you after mile 7. I think I have this idea that people who run such long distances always do it easily, and because it is not easy for me it's just not my thing. Obviously that's not true, but it was good to read/hear you say it.

Tacos can be deadly but yum! I will pass on the sports bra contest! :)

"You're a runner, get over it." "You're a runner, you're stronger than you are giving yourself credit for." And my favorite, "Shut up and run." Ha! Seriously though, if it is just a really bad day and I know my body isn't responding well, then I do at least 2.5 miles and call it quits. That way I still did something even if it was short.

I agree about the HR and definitely recommend people buying a HRM. It is so beneficial to see what your HR is during activities and to know how many cals you burn doing what. Love mine! Plus they come in cute lil colors. :D

That's a beautiful view!! I live in the mountains too (the Canadian Rockies to be exact). I don't get tired of the mountains. Especially on a clear day!

I know this is an older post but I wanted to share my two "life philosophies" that both really apply to running:
-It only hurts for a minute (pretty much always applies)
-Nothing worth having comes easy.

Word up! :) I hope I can make it to AKB tomorrow. I need to get Brenden's bday party invitations finished so I will see what happens.
