As Promised: Naturally Nutty Give-Away!

REVIEW OF NATURALLY NUTTY

A couple of weeks ago I received a nice package in the mail from Katie at Naturally Nutty. Thanks Katie!!! I got 4 wonderful flavors:

food_002_thumb[6]

Read her story, it rocks!

THE STORY

I live in Traverse City, Michigan as a vegetarian Mom with three kids. As a peanut butter lover myself, I began searching for the ultimate peanut butter. It had to be a peanut butter that  tasted amazing and, at the same time, was packed with natural and organic ingredients. I love hemp seed and flax seed because their benefits are endless (see below) but I couldn't find any peanut butter that used them. While there are some good peanut butters out there, nothing seemed perfect. I was looking for a healthy alternative to the major brands without comprising taste and texture and without the thick layer of oil on top. So since I couldn't find what I was looking for, I created my own with the help of friends and family. (read more)

How cool is that, she couldn’t find what she wanted so she went out there and made her own, man what a women!

HEALTH BENEFITS

Ok so not only does it have amazing health benefits, but it tastes wonderful too!!! So far I have tried both the Butter Toffee Peanut Butter and Vanilla Almond Butter and love them to death. I love that it’s not too sweet and the texture is just right! Check out the health benefits:

And as for NHershoes- i've learned a lot :D But I think your blog is just a straight up balance of juggling life, relationships, faith and a busy schedule!! You get it all done, and make sure not to kill yourself in the process! Thanks bobbi :D

well, i must say the existing flavors look really good ... but i think it would be neat to see an almond/peanut butter combination or mixed nut/peanut butter combination.

as far as what i've learned from your blog ... i initially came here looking for your secrets to running a 3:24 marathon ;) but i've also learned (or been reminded) about what's important in life, such as family, friends, self-improvement, etc.

thanks!

Anonymous said...

I'm all for chocolate/nut butter combos. I don't know if this is something I've "learned" but I love how much you appreciate the people in your life. :-)

Man I am a SUCKA for peanut butter!! I've only been on the natural PB wagon for about 2 months, but I swear it has changed everything! mmmmmmmm, peanut butter.

I'd love a hazelnut PB, oh man.

One thing I've learned from this blog, is that its okay to make a big spread of food, just be sure to send most of it home with your guests at the end of the night! :D

Personally I like the sound of either Maple or Cinnamon or both! oooooooh what have I learned from N Her Shoes?!?! CARRY MY MONEY AND LICENSE IN A ZIP POUCH WHEN I'M RUNNING. fo'sho'... have a great night!

the vanilla almond butter looks amazing!

i have learned how to make a protein pumpkin pancake! that seriously looks sooo good! also, i am inspired by your story, and i always feel like running after reading your blog :)

I would love any peanut butter with chocolate.

I have learned from your blog that it is okay that weight loss is slow and steady process. I love your tips of healthy living as well.

After much discussion, the husband and I think a wild blueberry almond butter may be good. Dried wild blueberries throughout the almond butter, sweetened naturally by blueberry juices? Yum!!

And what have I learned from your blog? You are incredibly inspiring, with the way that you're so awesome at balancing faith, exercise, work, school, love, life!! Everything! Your optimism is encouraging and you're such a breath of fresh air! I've learned that it's possible to do whatever you set your mind to, and you can do it ALL, just have balanced! (And I've recently learned more about friendships and dedication through you, too!)

Unknown said...

white chocolate coconut! my my, they all sound divine though :)

umm, if i were a nut butter, i'd probably be almond base, with banana and coconut :)

as for your blog, you seem to do it all so well girl! i LOVE how balanced your life is, and even the blog, we get a little bit of everything!

Anonymous said...

I would love to try orange/nut combo! sounds so good ;)

From your blog, I've learned that BALANCE in life is the most important thing in life.

What a great idea. I think I'd like to see more creativity with cashew and almond butters - maybe a chocolate almond butter... mmm...

As for your blog, I've been enjoying reading since I learned about it through the booty buster challenge. I'm a big fan of the breakfast recipes!

Anonymous said...

naturally nutty!?? YES PLEASE :)

1. new PB invention- I would love a peanutbutter flavored with flecks of blueberries and vanilla
(not overly vanilla, just a light hint)....it would be mimicking a fav. desert of mine...angelfood cake topped w/ blueberries and a smear of PB!

2. I've learned lots from your blog, and I love how you balance fun with food, family, friends, and health. You've done an awesome job to make food fuel your busy days at AKB and running around training! I have lots to be inspired by :)

thanks bobbi! (Hope I win, yayaya!!!)

Lo said...

I think a great nut butter would be a combo of mint and chocolate and coffee :) like a peanut butter thin mint flavor! yummmy!

and as for your blog you have showed me that anyone can balance life with exercise. You truly inspire me to get out there. I can see you have work and a relationship and still go run or workout! thanks for having such a great view on life!

joyRuN said...

I'm thinking an amaretto-flavored almond butter might be yummy. But you know how some flavors sound better in theory...

I've learned from you (among many things): yummy sloppy potatoes, & that I really really need to replace my french press :)

I would like to see a chocolate and nut combo.

What I learned from this blog is to never give up and enjoy your family and friends and just life in general.

Mica said...

Nut butters are great as they are.(Okay, I've only had peanut and almond butters.) I'd like one that tastes both like the original nut AND like the taste of running success!

...which is impossible. Oh well!

And from your blog, I've learned that you can go from being out of shape to super fit and healthy and FAST and AWESOME. :)

ilj2397 said...

I would LOVE to try that toffee flavor. And I've been hearing about this white chocolate peanut butter I have to try. I seriously have to have peanut butter at least once a day to live, so I really hope I win!

I am a new reader, but something really interesting that I learned from it already is that runners have to be so careful on the road, and that they even make that ID tag to keep you safe. I'm always scared driving by bikers or runners on the road (there are a lot around in this college town), and I try to give them their distance. Just doing my part for the runners :).

Christy G. said...

I'd want a nut butter to be peanut flavor, and I learned that you shop at Trader Joe's.

Anonymous said...

I would die a happy woman with some white chocolate chunky almond butter

I love your blog because its a little bit of everything, but your running tips are really helpful too! I love that you think its good for me to have my huge mug of coffee before my morning run!!!

MOMFOREVERANDEVER said...

chocolate and it releives menopause or pms

Anonymous said...

Hrmm, I'm not sure about flavor. Chocolate already exists and so does maple. Maybe a butterscotch PB flavor? That could be interesting!

I've learned a ton Bobbi, especially how to be more positive in day to day life. Don't let things get you down, just move along, tomorrow is a new day! :D

Diane said...

I would like a Honey-Nut version. And one of the things I learned is to have a little bit of caffeine before your workout because it gets things moving.

I would absolutely love a mixed almond, honey not butter. My fiance and I always mix our nut butters that we grind fresh at Whole Foods even though we're not supposed to..oops!
I've learned a great deal about balance on your site and that anything is possible!

Deborah Wellenstein said...

How about cashew butter? I made cashew butter once, and it was great! Thank you!

Denise said...

I think a honey peanut butter would be good, or cinnamon. I love cinnamon anything.

As for what I've learned...having battled and still battling several issues with food, peanut butter has always been something that I didn't allow myself. So when I do let myself eat it, I tend to go over board. So I go back and forth between allowing myself one peanut butter sandwich a week to none in the house to a taste every day. I just can't find the balance with foods that I love but have always denied myself. I know peanut butter is so good for us and important for runners so I'm trying. And through your blog and others, I've learned that you can eat peanut butter and still be in shape and not over weight.

denyse said...

Ya know, I'm not one for flavored anything. I hope this counts- but I love just plain ol unflavored peanut butter (ni jelly)

You were a cheerleader in 9th grade, and then quickly switched to cross-country and water polo, because you didn't feel comfortable in a short skirt!

Unknown said...

Well, I think I would like chocolate-banana PB because those are probably my three favorite foods. And from reading N Her Shoes, I've learned what AKB is!

Anonymous said...

I would love to see an "Amaretto Peanut Butter" - I think that flavor combo would be amazing!

I learn so much from you Bobbi! You are my running inspiration! I've learned a lot about putting together a plan and traning, and that you have to listen to your body! The day I got an actual pair of "running" shoes - was the best day ever! :)

Deborah said...

My favorite flavor would have to be natural - I've never tried any other flavor of peanut butter lol. I've learned that weight loss can be a slow process. asthenight at gmail dot com

Elkaye said...

Almonds are my favorites, so I'd like to see more expansion with the almond line that they currently have (milk chocolate or coconut). And maybe a line with hazelnuts or pistachios, too.

Your story is so inspirational. I've been incorporating more oatmeal in my diet and didn't think I had many options with it (I usually at it like a cold cereal and add dried cranberries, flax seeds, almonds, vanilla protein powder and almond milk to get it wet). After looking through your posts about the meals with oatmeal, I have become a bit more inspired. Thank you!

as long as it involves dark chocolate and peanut butter - I'm good to go!!!!

i've learned that when I start actually running on the "road" I should make sure to have some sort of ID with me be it in my pants or on my wrist - awesome!!!

Anonymous said...

I think cinnamon would be the best. :)

and i just learned today about running safety! I might have to get one of those ID bands you showed a picture of - what a good idea!

I love just the plain nutty goodness with no additional flavors added. YUM. What I learned from your blog is consistent training/running can make you faster, if you do it in the right way. I'm still working on training to get faster, but I've definitely seen an improvement since i started focusing on only one thing during each training session. Thank you Bobbi!!

What a great giveaway... I'm bound to win one of these one day!
1) I'd love to try the Butter Toffee flavor. I normally would go for something with chocolate but the Peanut Butter Co chocolate pb tastes so fake to me that I think maybe chocolate pb just doesn't work for me since I'm a true chocoholic.
2) From reading your blog, I'm learning to adopt your positive attitude. :)

Dark Chocolate Raspberry would do it for me! Yum! That Chocolate toffee sounds amazing though.

One thing I have learned here at N Her Shoes is it takes a heck of a lot of work to BQ. Just sticking to a good running schedule isn't enough (unless you're naturally lucky) You need to change things up a lot and cross train really hard.

BTW I'm running -not racing- the 7 on the 7th too. I can't wait!

First of all peanut butter and I have a very good relationship. We are in love. I've always liked and enjoyed peanut butter but I never truly appreciated it until I started eating the natural less processed kind. Now I have to pry myself away from the jar. I recently made it to the bottom of a large bottle and am in desperate need for more. Since I eat very little meat I try to get a little more bulk into my meals with the pb. I would love to try to the chocolate butter toffee. It sounds divine! (Combing my two favorite things...chocolate and pb!)

What I've learned from your blog and all the others I stay in touch with is there are real women out there just like me trying to stay healthy and fit. I currently am in undergraduate at Florida State and am surrounded by girls who either don't care about being healthy or who take it way too far. I find inspiration from reading healthy-living food blogs. It's comforting to know that other women aspire to live an active healthy lifestyle like I do. I feel that in America we are too few and far between.

You might have even convinced me to try running in a skirt come the warm weather!

Wow! There are a ton of commenters on here!

I am a fan of the PB, but also have had a problem with finding the perfect one! I do like the addition of flax seeds, have had PB with that before and it was great. If I could make my own flavor, it would be cinnamon and ginger almond butter, because cinnamon makes everything better! Not to mention the health benefits of those two spices.

I am new to your blog, but since reading your story I have learned how my hard work can definitely pay off if I keep trying! I have also been on the path to weight loss, and I am almost where I want to be. I have read how you have been mixing it up with your workouts, and I have known for a long time thats what I need to do, but now I have that extra push to get it done.

I wish you the best!

Chocolate Cherry Peanut Butter sounds great to me.

Is it enough that I learned something but didn't necessarily apply it? I've learned the importance of balance in life, but I haven't been very successful at achieving it so far.

I'd like to see almond chunks and bits of dried apricot with peanut butter. I'm all for crunchy.
I've learned that it's incredibly hard to achieve balance in life but so rewarding when it happens.

Okay, I'm going with the White Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter because it sounds awesome and it also has hemp and flax.

I have learned at N Her Shoes that some people (ahem, you) are really dedicated to fitness and still have time to blog, blog, blog. I looked at your running times and, hello, impressive! I'm still trying to walk a half-marathon without puking!
