Six Dollar Mushroom Cheddar Burger Gone Healthy

Tonight I was craving a big juicy burger, so I recreated a healthier version of the Six Dollar Mushroom Cheddar Burger at a fast food joint.

Mix the following together:

  • 3/4 pound lean turkey meat
  • 3 egg whites
  • Emirl’s all purpose seasoning
  • handful of bread crumbs

Form into patties and add in some light cheddar cheese cubed(optional) . Throw on the grill 6-7 minutes on each side.

For the Grilled Mushrooms, take a small piece of butter/margarine and melt it in a frying pan, a little goes a long way.

Picture 326

Add one package of Sliced Mushrooms.

Picture 327

2 tbsp of Worcestershire Sauce

Picture 328

1 Tbsp of Sugar (the secret ingredient)

Picture 331

Sauté it all up!

While the burgers were cooking on the grill, Hubby showed me some of the veggies that he picked from our garden.

Love fresh tomatoes, I used this one on my Burger.

More Banana Peppers.

After checking out the Garden goods I made some Sweet Potato fries in the oven.I just cut up two large sweet potato's and tossed them in EVOO and a little Cayenne pepper. Placed in oven at 400 degrees for 18 minutes. They came out perfect!

Now why would anybody buy a FAST FOOD BURGER, when you could have this healthier version for so much cheaper, and it tastes amazing?!

Time to play some Wii, Hubby and I need some “WE” time together.

Question: Do you get fast food cravings?! What’s your alternative?

I was a junk food junkie for so long, and I do crave french fries often.
Sometimes, I give in, and get a small fry, or other times, I try to just make healthier versions at home.

The food looks excellent! You're inspiring me to want to grow some veggies at home too. :)

I do get fast food cravings, but not very often when I'm eating healthy... if I've strayed from the way I choose to normally eat though they come back with a vengeance!!!

I get food craving multiple times a day. I always try to write them down and incorporate them into the weekly menu so I don't forget.

I think my favorite "alternative" would be pizza, nachos, veggie burgers....you know just about all the good stuff! ;)

The burger looks awesome! And wonderful veggies girl! :)

Awesome burger!

When I am craving a juicy burger but I want it to be somewhat healthy, I usually stick to Bison. I actually think it tastes better than ground beef.

Mmm, I often make sweet potato fries as well when I'm craving some fast food. Or I make a homemade taco salad when I want mexican food.
I was wondering how you were going to get that burger in your mouth! It looks so big and mouth watering! YUM!

I love eggplant, I like to just roast it in the oven with some EVOO. :)

I don't really get fast food cravings but I'd definitely choose something fresh, juicy and healthy over a flat, boring, who-knows-whats-in-it meal from a fast food joint.

Holy cow, that burger looks amazing! Although, minus the shrooms...

I do get cravings for fast food, but not nearly as much as I used to. Those french fries get me every time!

That burger looks amazing, I need to try that. Mushrooms look the best!
Jealous of your backyard garden, can't wait to garden like that!

Lovely crops from the garden!
Don't you feel so proud?

Those burgers are mouth watering...they look way better then anything you could buy. Nice work!

I don't really get cravings anymore for fast food. I stopped eating fried out, when I discovered how easy Sweet potato fries were to make. Plus I love them more than regular fries.

The hamburger looks great! So does your garden. Nothing like going outside to pick your own veggies!

When I crave fast food it's usually a Mexican fast food craving (Chipotle, Baja Fresh, etc) so I'll just make a big taco salad at home or a big black bean burrito!

I rarely to never get fast food cravings, mostly because I find delicious and amazing recipes like these to feed me and keep me happy. Thanks :-) definitely one for the recipe books

The only fast food I really crave is fries. Usually it's once I smell them. Sometimes I give in and let myself have a few. Most of the time I make fries at home, they usually turn out better anyway!

Your burger looks amazing - better then something you would get at a restaurant! I try to make mexican food at home - at restaurants it can be so bad for you - lots of full fat cheese, sour cream, meat, etc.

I'm so jealous of your garden. Everything is so beautiful!

What a great burger recipe! I can't wait to try it! I definitely get junk food cravings. One of my favorite alternatives is to make healthy pizzas. And this burger looks like it's going to be my next favorite junk food alternative. Thanks! :-)

These look so good - definitely planning on making them myself!

This all looks so great! I wish we could have a garden like yours. I can only imagine how much better the veggies taste when they are so fresh! My hubby and I make sweet potato 'chips' by cutting them into thin discs, spreading a bit of evoo and fresh black pepper and then baking in the oven till they're crisp. Sooo good!
Thanks for the inspiration!
