An Un-invented Kind of Day

Hubby said today felt like an un-invented day. It didn’t feel like the weekend, and it sure didn’t feel like a Monday!

Today my niece Breanna turned the beautiful age of 7. I remember being 7 is was such a great year in my life, lots of playing, laughing, sugar, and joy! I hope this is a great one for her as well.

We had a pool party at my Mom’s (AKA Grandama Diva’s) house. Here is the birthday girl, and her sister Noel who just had to get a picture as well, what a HAM!

While sitting by the pool I enjoyed some watermelon and a cool refreshing beverage, I think I have had my share of adult beverages for a while!!!

The Birthday girl could not handle all the camera attention, she wouldn’t strike any more poses, even with her favorite Aunt Bobbi !! She was too cute all day!!

We laid out by the pool for a good 3 hours and then went inside for some grub!! I was smart this time and drank lot’s of water to keep well hydrated!

My Step Dad Rich grilled up some AMAZING Carne Asada! I am not a big red meat eater, but back in the day when I ate whatever I felt like I would eat this stuff a lot!! It’s like a staple here in SO CAL!

We also had some potato salad, another addiction of mine!!! I made one taco with a little meat, grilled onions, salsa, avocado, and some cheese. I also had some potato salad on the side and ended going back up for some seconds.

I was in charge of the birthday cake!! In honor of the TSL challenge I made it all from scratch. I had all the ingredients on hand to make a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting! This was the first time I have ever made a cake from scratch, I will be doing this forever. It was easy and cheap!

The cake was ok, I think I have to use a little more butter, but the frosting was perfect.

I actually don’t like cake, but because I made it I just had to have a little sliver. I also had a serving of some Light Moose Track ice-cream that we brought. This ice-cream is my favorite, (vanilla ice cream with pb cups and fudge).

What an exhausting yet fun 3 day weekend, I am ready to get in my jammies and curl up with Hubby in front of the TV!!!

Lots to come in the morning!!

  • TSL Challenge Update
  • San Diego Rock and Roll Info
  • Fun packages

Stay tuned…..

Nite Nite!!

What a perfect day! You and your niece are too cute together!

I have to admit that I am NOT a fan of cake, cupcakes, etc. That spongey texture is just not my thing!

Hope you had a wonderful, relaxing evening! :)
