Getting Back to Reality

I didn’t think that the jet lag coming home from the east coast would be so killer. Last night, as I was driving to AKB I wanted to just curl up and go to sleep and it was only 6:00pm, which meant it was 9pm east coast time. I pushed through and taught an intense kickboxing class(I know Skinny Bride liked it). It was even hard for me, after not doing it for a week I almost felt like I was out of shape(I did manage to gain 5 pounds while on vacation).

SKINNY BRIDE UPDATE
By the way Skinny Bride is doing ok, she hasn’t dropped anymore weight, she is getting a bit discouraged. We are trying something new this week, I’ ll let you know how it goes.

After a 10 day vacation it is always hard to get back into the groove of every day life. When I got home last night I managed to clean the entire kitchen like an OCD freak! I am not sure what got in to me, I was scrubbing until my hands started to hurt. I ended up finishing around 11pm and didn’t get in to bed until after 11:30. I am not going to lie I am feeling a little overwhelmed right now with all that I need to get done this week. Hubby saved the day of course and unpacked my bags and did all of my laundry so that is one thing I do not have to do:)  I have over 250 posts to catch up in my Google Reader, and lot’s to tell you all about.

OK ENOUGH OF THE VENTING!!! On to the morning eats. I was missing my morning oats so much that yesterday and today I have made some wonderful bowls.

STRAWBERRY BROWNIE OATS

I made them in my new favorite mug I got in NYC.

In the mix:

  • 1/2 c oats, 1/2 c water. 1/2 c almond milk
  • cinnamon
  • 1/2 scoop of vanilla whey protein
  • 4 sliced strawberries
  • handful of Zoë's Cinnamon Raisin Granola
  • 1/4 Z Bar, Chocolate Brownie
  • Drizzle of Agave Nectar

I am happy to be eating REAL FOOD again, this week I am on a FULL DETOX! I enjoyed all the wonderful food on our trip but I am determined to lose the 5 pounds I gained while away. This means lots of water, fruit and veggies. Along with no sugar(desserts) and NO alcohol. I am also trying to stay away from wheat as much as possible. Why no wheat? I’ve been having some digestive problems lately and I am not sure if I have a wheat intolerance or not, but I thought I would give it up for a week and see how I feel. So far so good. There are so many other forms of bread products out there, rice, quinoa, arrowroot, barley, potato, or rye bread, cornmeal, cornstarch, soybean flour, barley flour, oat flour, rice flour, potato starch, arrowroot flour, and so on so it’s not that difficult.

I am working on a fun new challenge for May and I can not wait to tell you all about it. I will be posting the challenge tonight, so stay tuned you don’t want to miss out!

Are you looking for a new challenge?

P.S. It’s not to late to enter my Birthday Giveaway!!!!

I am so happy to hear you are back full time on the blog ;)
I am sure those 5 lbs are just from the traveling and different foods you ate...nothing serious!

Hey Bobbi,
I have a 10 mile run and a marathon coming up this month. I know since you just rocked the Boston Marathon, maybe you have some words of wisdom for me. I posted this morning on my site some questions about prepping a few days out from the races. Do you have any suggestions for me? I am not sure who else to ask! Any help would be great! Thanks.

glad you're back and getting in the old routine! i know how hard it can be to get back into those kinds of things, let alone make up new ones when you move (so crazy when i came to fl! and i still don't have a schedule half the time!).

and i'm sure that those 5lbs are water water water! no worries babe!

i can't wait to hear about the wheat free experiment too. i've been thinking that might actually be bothering me...but i'm such a stickler for my wheat...and i'm too cheap to buy the other kinds of flours and stuff! gah!
