Can't catch my breath!
So this weekend was a whirl wind, between the 5am run on Saturday and the Kick Boxing class on Sunday night I am pooped to say the least. But it was a fun and exciting time.
Rachel and I did an 18 mile run on Saturday morning, well wait let me back up. The weekend really started off on Friday night where Matt and I went to the Redlands Bowl and watched, The Wizard of Oz. We brought our dinner down and enjoyed a lovely and entertaining play, but had to bail out early because I had to get up so early (the sacrifices you make). Ok so now I am on to Saturday morning, the run was great. The first 6 miles were pretty adventurous if I do say so myself, plenty of hills, dogs, roosters, and other animals on the trail. But we made it out of there alive and well. We then headed down the hill for the rest and it wasn't too bad at first. I had had to stretch a couple times because my legs felt heavy, but with Rachel there it was very encouraging ( I could never run by myself for that long). Then at about mil 11 and 12 I had a hard time catching my breath, I would take deep breaths in but my chest wouldn't expand I almost felt like I was wheezing. I know that I have had some sinus issues the week before from coming home from Hawaii. The change of altitude always seems to get to me! Well our last 2 miles we ran out at tempo, which basically means fast! I finished and that's all that matters to me. We quickly went in to Rachels house and drank a recovery drink and had a delicious home made power bar that she made, which I will post the recipe she gave me. Then I headed back home. I should have taken an ice bath but instead I took a hot shower and then laid down and stretched, kinda. I should have stretched better, but before I knew it we were off for our adventure to Los Angeles.
Matt, my bro Jeremiah and I took the Metro Link in SanBernardino the LA. It dropped us off at the Union Station and then we took the Dodger Trolley (which was free) to the Dodger Stadium. It was so great no traffic to fight, no gas money to spend, and we had some great quality time together. The only bummer was, the only ride we could get back on the Metro was 11:30pm which means we got home at 1am. So we diddle daddled around LA for an hour and a half, we saw a lot of interesting things; a bum watering flowers, lot's of sleeping, and a women at a bus stop with a white sheet covering her. Little did I know we were down the street from Skid Rowe! The ride home was fin and it wouldn't have been that bad if we had sat next to any sane human being that new it was midnight and didn't talk LOUD the entire way home. We tried to sleep but that didn't happen(note to self find a sleeping baby before you sit next to four old men!).
Then on to Sunday we taught sweet little three year olds about Mishack, Shadrack and Abendigo. We then went on to celebrate my cousin Alex's 16th birthday party, where I totally broke my diet, not like I did well at the Dodger Game either! I then went to Kick Boxing where I think I might have taught my best class yet, and it was a lot of fun. I think it will help out with my sereneness. Just when I thought my weekend was over, I head over to the park to pick up Matt from a Softball game, I end up having a little batting practice of my own and hey I didn't do too bad( but I still need more practice for sure! ).
Well we will see what the week has to offer, man I hope a little sleep and rest come in!
P.S. Here is that yummy Power Bar Recipe
