Sunday Prep Day & Her First Green Monster!

Thanks so much for your input about the new blog name, Hubby and I are still working out the details. It does look like I will get to keep NHerShoes!!! I really didn’t want to change the title of my blog so this works out perfect:)

Well this MARCH MADNESS is off to a fantastic start. I am currently doing 4 challenges this month, I know I am crazy!

Carrot’s N Cake 31 Days of Yoga: I did Yoga 6 days this week and every day I loved it. I only missed one day because I FORGOT! It has been a bit challenging, because I don’t have a lot of balance and my legs are always tight after my runs. I know these things will get better as I continue my practice the next 25 days.

The MBBC: My total for the week was 75.5points!!! I eat a lot more veggies and fruit then I thought, and that 18 mile run sure did help! I do need to be drinking a lot more water though.

Personal Challenge: I am not revealing until the 40 days are up, but it’s going ok, I need to put more effort in to it.

LENT: No sweets week was ok, had a lot of temptations! I am realizing the sacrifice, and it has been a humbling experience.

Today has been rather productive, even though this time change is making it go by so FAST! I got the house cleaned, meals planned, caught up on emails, and prepped food for the week.

On Sundays I like to get all my meals and food ready for the week. This makes for a smoother week of EATS. To start off with I would like to show you all my recent find! I am obsessed with BAGS even LUNCH BAGS! I think this one is going to work perfect:)(I am sure I have said that before).

I found this bag at Target, it’s actually a mini cooler! With all the food I haul to school this should be great for my lunches and snacks. AND ITS SUPER CUTE! I heart polka dots.

Look at all that ROOM!!! I made some home-made blackeye-pea burgers for lunch this week, same recipe as the black bean burgers, I just used blackeye peas because we had a bazillion of them.

Ready to GRAB AND GO!

Chopped up all my veggies

Mixed all my greens together in my GREEN BAG, have you tried these??? I LOVE THEM!!!

And got my lunch ready for tomorrow:

Some people asked about this wonderful food container. I found it at Marshalls, but I know you can get them here too. Maybe they will let me do a give-away!

All that productiveness made me hungry, so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of my lunch!!! LOL..I just had leftovers from PF Chang’s and then made a GREEN MONSTER! It is about time.

Everyone has been raving about these juices, and I have been wanting to give them a try for quite some time now. I was a little afraid of what this was going to taste like, but I am one to TRY anything.

I used Angela’s recipe,

  • 1 leave of organic kale
  • 1 cup Almond Breeze
  • 1 Tbsp flax
  • 1 ripe banana( I used 1/2)
  • 1/4 cup organic frozen blueberries
  • 1 Tbsp  Almond Butter

Check out that AB ooo no!!! I forgot about the banana at the last minuet.

I also added a little of Odwalla Vanilla Al’Mondo Protein for some extra protein.

    This just doesn't look right…….

ooooo la la…it looks GREEN! Why did it take me so long to try this?!!! It was amazing. It tasted a lot like a banana shake, I couldn’t taste the Kale at ALL!

Will be having again very soon!

I am teaching Kickboxing at 5:30 tonight so I will be having a late dinner, not sure what to make. I was thinking Italian, any ideas???

Question for the day: Do you prep your meals on Sunday? If so what do you prep???

Ooh, you're so organized! I don't prep as thoroughly as you do, but sometimes I make a batch of hummus or something to get ready for the week ahead.

I tried a green shake today, too. I have a lot more experimenting to do with them.

Just tried black eyed peas for the first time today, they are great! I'm going to have to try the burgers.

I love those green shakes too! I make a ton of roasted veggies to eat through the week, so when I go to the store I clean, peel, chop, the veggies for it like: butternut squash, bell peppers, zucchini, onion, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, etc. Then when I am ready to make them I just mix them in a bowl with some salt, pepper, olive oil or Soy Vay sauce. So good!

Yup, I make a variety of wraps with different cheeses, protein, and condiments (hummus, salsa, Caesar dressing, etc.) I wrap in saran wrap, freeze, and grab one in the morning to take to work along with a bowl of fruit salad I also prepare on Sunday. I like to suprise myself, not knowing which wrap I grabbed.

I do all my cooking on the weekends so that I have pre-packed left overs for lunches. it just wouldn't happen otherwise.

    yeah for the smoothies!!

yup, i cook on the weekend, so i don't come home starving and eat the apartment en route to cooking :)

That lunch bag is super cute!

I try to organize my lunches and stuff like you. I get a lot done in Sundays, but not nearly as much as you. You have inspired me.

I try to prep for the week, but it tends not to happen. I work part time as a server and if I work on Sundays (like today) it definitely doesn't get done.

I love polka dots too!!! I've never had black eyed peas before. I think it may be an American thing? Can any fellow Canadians back that up or prove me wrong? Those burgers look awesome though!

Props to you for setting so many challenges/goals for yourself. This post was super inspiring!

I don't do prep on Sundays but I do pack my lunch the night before everyday. And we try to make a lot of x2 meals so we can do leftovers.

I don't prep meals but I sort of meal plan and get an idea of how to approach the coming week. :D

For the tilapia, I would make a nice sort of marinade, brush it on top of the fish and then bake the fish. Tilapia doesn't take long at all in the oven.
